The seed on its back is some sort of parasitic, nomadic species of Araceae that enables BULBASAUR to gain energy through photosynthesis, alongside eating roots and insects, which it digs for with its tusks.

In the wild, they are calm and slow-moving Pokemon, who often live in small colonies, typically consisting of a few VENUSAUR and several BULBASAUR.
